The large surface area of connection improves cathodic protection efficiencies andwill assist with improved outcomes on coating longevity by maximizing the connection between shaft and anode.On metallic vessels, the strap is ideal for creating an additional connection to anodes on the hull for redundancy andbalancing of cathodic currents. Imbalances of cathodic protection levels (voltage) between hull, stern tube and shafts cancontribute to stern tube corrosion and crevice corrosion on the shaft.
